How PMA Connections Are Shaping Our Careers

How PMA Connections Are Shaping Our Careers

When you join the PMA, you aren’t just joining an industry association. We consider ourselves a community where you can find mentorship, support, and genuine connections.

Coming off of seeing many fantastic conversations at Affiliate Summit East, I asked our members in Slack “Who is ONE person you have connected with through the PMA who has had a big impact on your life or career?” I got a lot of responses of “I can’t pick just one!,” which is totally understandable. So I’m sharing some of the responses so far.

Katie Jones, Publisher Development, Partner Commerce: “The PMA is known for helping people make valuable business connections, but when someone drops what they’re doing to help you solve a problem in real time, it goes way beyond networking, it becomes a true support system. That’s Jade Mayberry for me. Jade is an incredible mix of sweet kindness, deep authenticity, and sheer marketing superpower. Watching her lead at the PMA has taught me what real leadership looks like, and her candid advice has pulled me out of some seriously deep holes. I’m so grateful to have found such an extraordinary ally through the PMA.”

Laura Goodsell, Founder, Goodsell Marketing: “Connecting with Choots Humphries through PMA Board member and former Membership Committee Chair, Tara McCommons, has made a huge difference in my career. Choots is the ultimate industry connector, always generous about making key introductions and sharing his deep, visionary knowledge of the affiliate space. He’s been an incredible mentor to me, especially when it comes to talking through the technical side of marketing campaigns. I can easily spend hours chatting with him about where the industry has been and where it’s heading next. I’m super grateful for his guidance and perspective.”

Christen Evans, Founder + CEO, Spark Partnerships: “The one person I have connected with (though there are so many and for so many reasons) that has had a big impact on my life and career is Tricia Meyer. Aside from being just sunshine personified, there have been multiple moments in my career where I’ve felt lost, stalled or just completely lacking confidence. Tricia has always provided support, encouragement and a really solid sounding board in a way that has helped re-instill belief in myself and knowledge that I know what I’m doing. She knows where the bodies are buried, knows how to navigate tough situations and almost always shows up with a smile. The work Tricia has done for the PMA is unparalleled and I truly believe that without her dedication, the organization would be nowhere near as strong and tall as it is.”

Vanessa Isaacson, Director of Account Development, AvantLink: “The most critical PMA relationships I have made is with every person who I have had the pleasure to serve with on the Publisher Recruitment and Education Council. This team is filled with the best minds in the affiliate industry and after each call I am not only more knowledgeable, but am comforted knowing that our industry is filled with the most caring individuals whose goal is to see everyone in performance marketing succeed.”

Thanks to those who contributed! The best day to tell someone you appreciate them is always TODAY!
